What is AmazonSmile?
AmazonSmile is a simple and automatic way for you to support your favorite charitable organization every time you shop, at no cost to you. When you shop at smile.amazon.com, you’ll find the exact same low prices, vast selection and convenient shopping experience as Amazon.com, with the added bonus that Amazon will donate a portion of the purchase price to your favorite charitable organization. You can choose from nearly one million organizations to support.

AmazonSmile only works through smile.amazon.com; the mobile apps are currently not supported. However, there are workarounds. The fact is, you only have to check out at smile.amazon.com. You can fill your shopping cart through the mobile apps or even www.amazon.com. As long as you go to smile.amazon.com to check out, AmazonSmile applies. But beware, the reverse is also true; if you fill your cart at smile.amazon.com but check out with the mobile apps or on www.amazon.com, then you don't get any smiles.
How I do it (Terry W)
But let me tell you how I personally use it. The first time you go to smile.amazon.com you will be prompted as to which charity you want Amazon's $$$ to go. Say i3 Detroit, please. Then all you do is replace your amazon bookmark with smile.amazon.com and from then on you get to Amazon through the Smile door.
- Your account works normally and you actually won't even notice that you went to Amazon thru the Smile door.
- It costs you no money, period. Same prices as the normal door. And for most (but not) all of your purchases i3 Detroit get's Amazon to give us $$$. About 0.5% of your purchases, but it varies a bit. No cost to you.
- Nothing else to do. Just use the new bookmark. That's it.
- We currently get about $500/year through Amazon Smile, and it could easily be 5x that amount.
- Get your friends and family to go through the Smile door and we get more money from Amazon.
