Food Allergies in i3 Detroit
Since we do potluck and other activities where food is brought and shared, a few have discussed food allergies. Current policy is that no food is forbidden from bringing to the space. However, for ease of some of the members, when labeling food for group consumption, please include the following allergies below. Keep in mind that most food allergies react even in the smallest concentration so if any amount is in the food, even by using a shared, not cleaned, dish, please label.
Allergies
Federal law requires companies to label foods containing the following common allergens: milk, eggs, fish, Crustacean shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, soybeans, and sesame. While the law doesn't apply to private potluck-style gatherings it's a good idea to use that list as a minimum starting point.
