Agenda for 2025-04-01

Meeting Location

Meeting was Called to Order At: 19:32

Hybrid Meeting Etiquette

  • Be excellent.
  • Attendance and voting can be found in the #meetings slack channel.
  • Please show up early if you are concerned about your audio.
  • If there is no one waiting to speak feel free to do so at the next opportunity.
  • If there is someone waiting to speak, please say that you are raising your hand in the google call chat. (This will be demonstrated)
  • Please refrain from other side conversations, these can be distracting for the rest of the meeting and make it difficult for the chair to keep track of what's going on.
  • If you're in the space remember that having a single person speaking at a time is helpful for those attending online.

Introductions

What does being excellent at i3 mean

An experienced member explains what being excellent at i3 means to them

  • Richard: If you. identify something tag needs to be done, do the whole thin seven if it's inconvenient for you just to help make the space better.

Experienced Members

Discussion of Meeting Minutes Proposal From Last Month

  • Will need to update the dates of the proposal. 5 Tuesdays in April threw off the dates. The dates in May conflict with board meetings.
  • Special board meetings will need notice given by an officer or board member
  • Board members have given notice to other board members of a Board meeting on April 8th

Initial proposal:

  • April 8: Member Meeting 7:30pm
  • April 15: Board Meeting 7:30pm
  • April 22: Member Meeting 7:30pm
  • April 29: Board Meeting 7:30pm
  • May 6: Member Meeting 7:30pm
  • May 13: Board Meeting 7:30pm
  • May 20: Member Meeting 7:30pm
  • May 27: Board Meeting 7:30pm

Proposal:
Make the only member meetings in April and May on the following dates:
  • April 1 (today): Member Meeting 7:30pm (regularly scheduled)
  • April 15: Member Meeting 7:30pm
  • May 6: Member Meeting 7:30pm (regularly scheduled)
  • May 20: Member Meeting 7:30pm
Context
Last member meeting, a schedule was voted on that conflicts with board meetings and didn't take into account that there are 5 Tuesdays in the month of April. This means some of the meetings were off by a week

Zone updates

Automotive Zone

  • Jeremy: getting a new tire changer and balancer that we're hoping will be here on Thursday
  • Should it require authorization?
    • People were generally in favor of it requiring authorization
    • We will work on getting a training system

  • Hoping all printers are working. Jeff can come in tonight if needed.
  • Hoping to move things into the new home. Everybody else will need to make their moves first.

Paint Zone

Sewing Zone

  • Craft area has an embroidery machine and basic sewing machine and the thread for embroidery is on the desk. Drawers have what the machines need. Embroidery arms are on the shelf under the desk. This will be the setup until the new room is done. The old room is closed and filled for storage.
  • We are meeting Wednesday evening to work on the window arch.
  • We are also meeting to build this weekend, probably Saturday but still confirming. Watch the calendar and follow the sewing and expansion slack channels for additional work dates posted.
  • Just FYI we are waiting for the fire marshal to get back to i3 with the official list of things i3 needs to address, but we expect getting permits and related inspections, to be required for the buildout work. It's unknown right now if it will mean any delays to the project.
  • There are two task lists for sewing build in slack. One is for the main build tasks to have a room, and the second list is a project planner for all of the rest of related tasks for the things that go inside of it. There are things for many skill sets and ways to contribute! See sewing slack channel.

Storage Zone

  • New storage label system (mostly) implemented!
    • Still need to finish replacing the tile board for the highest up spaces (some are glued on or can't be reached without the genie)
    • Help re-labeling all claimed spaces would be much appreciated
  • Reminders:
    • Only active members can have storage spaces
    • One storage space per member (this includes all personal storage options, but you can still use zone-general storage like the laser cutter or wood shop options!)
    • You must have your storage plot claimed in the CRM! The CRM is the go-to for storage claims, not the physical label on the plot! If you don't have your plot claimed in the CRM, you can lose it if someone else claims it! :(
    • Please make sure the material you're storing fits in your plot and isn't sticking out into the hallway. If you cannot read the label for the plot beneath yours, your stuff is sticking out too much. If it's too long to fit, please consider other storage options.
  • Only 2 of them have picked their stuff up. Not sure about the last one since there may have been 3.
  • If somebody is here on Saturday to get some stuff from storage, please let her in

Wood Shop

  • Frank: Avid CNC is now up and running
  • There's a sign up sheet for authorization
  • There will be 3 projects you will have to complete. Third project you will have to supply your own bits.
  • The first project will be a quick overview
  • Trainers will review what project you've done
  • Have over 20 people that want to be authorized. Drew and Frank will do it as fast as they can.
  • The woodshed slack has a link. There's also one on the wiki page.
  • Because you know you will have other projects to do, you can start those early.
